Summerlea Woods

Just 15 minutes from Hamilton, this established community of Binbrook offers the ease of small-town living with the conveniences and variety of an urban centre. The target market for this bedroom community is the established professional couple (38-50) with older children; a refined and sophisticated buyer. Thus, styling the Allure model home with a high-end European influences was the chosen direction.

The design language for the interior was chosen to compliment the concept of the model home’s exterior. With the homes designed to be reminiscent of classic Victorian architecture, traditional and dramatic elements were utilized in the interior, paired with a more modern, urban aesthetic. The furniture stylings takes cues from the 20’s and 30’s with a nod to fashion (houndstooth, plaid and stripes), modernized by the oversized Tom Dixon beat pendant lighting, paired with grey washed oak furnishings. Chanel stitching is featured on the living room sofa, a theme repeated subtly throughout.

Minimal window coverings were used to maximize the amount of daylight coming into the rooms. However, some rooms required a moodier atmosphere, thus darker drapery was used to allow those spaces to feel more intimate. The larger furniture elements are monochromatic to help neutralize the palette and not distract the eye; layered with pattern and colour, accessories such as pillows and throws add interest. Balance and symmetry is created in the positioning of every piece exuding a more formal and sophisticated essence in the home.
