The Poet

Inspired by period styles from traditional French to mid-century modern, The Poet is a contemporary interpretation of bohemian chic in Toronto’s thriving Leslieville neighbourhood. Our challenge was to design an inspired space that resonated with the community and differed from the typical condo model, yet still offered high end, quality materials and detailing.

A key inspiration was Leslieville’s connection to nature, and the design incorporates natural materials and biophilic elements that appeal to the young, active demographic. Translating a deep understanding of the demographic into a truly unique design, we helped The Poet set a new standard for condos in Leslieville. The main lobby is defined by an air of a boutique hotel from a bygone era, with an artistic quality that is warm and inviting. The nature of the space is slightly eclectic possessing hints of traditional French design, mid-century modern style, clean Scandinavian lines and energizing organic influences. Guests and residents enter off of a busy street to a calming environment with a neutral color palette of taupe, cool whites and warm wood tones punctuated by hits of forest green, deep charcoal and brass metal accents.

The theme of blending modern and traditional elements continues in the party room where the ambience takes on a moodier tone. Warm tobacco coloured leathers, gold and honey coloured textiles are complimented by a midnight blue grass cloth wallcovering in a modern geometric pattern with brass and burnished bronze details. A theme repeated throughout the building is the introduction of organic elements including lush potted succulents and wooden slats applied in a modern lattice pattern to feature walls (seen on the wall behind the sofa and in the TV surround).
