Since its inception in 1969, NeoCon has established itself as the world’s leading platform and most significant event of the year for the commercial interior design industry. Renowned for its role as a launch pad for innovation, NeoCon consistently offers ideas and introductions that shape the built environment of today and the future. This annual gathering in Chicago draws design professionals from diverse markets including Workplace, Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail, Education, Public Space, and Government, all converging to connect, learn, and conduct business.

The NeoCon exhibition is not just a display of the industry’s major manufacturers and emerging companies showcasing thousands of new products and services; it is also complemented by first-class educational and inspirational programming. These sessions offer expertise and insights into the most relevant topics in the industry today, making NeoCon an essential event for staying ahead in the design world.

Among the attendees at NeoCon 2024 were Figure3’s Vice President, Nadine Burdak, and Creative Lead, Olivia Jelenic. Their presence at the event underscored Figure3’s commitment to staying at the forefront of design trends and innovations. This year’s NeoCon focused on recurring themes, especially in terms of fabrication with a strong emphasis on innovation and sustainability.

Wellbeing and inclusion in the workplace were central themes, reflecting a growing trend in improving workplace design. The lines between office, hospitality, and residential design are becoming increasingly fluid as workers and employers fully embrace the hybrid/work-from-home model. The goal is to design spaces that foster connection and adaptability in this new era of work.

Design Insights

NeoCon 2024 showcased sculptural furniture forms with a slightly retro feel, utilizing monochromatic color palettes in warm, inviting tones such as terracotta, honeydew yellow, polar blues, and sage greens. These colors evoke feelings of comfort and calm, responding to the need for more serene and welcoming environments.

Industry Connections and Future Collaborations

The Figure3 procurement team took full advantage of the opportunity to meet with industry leaders such as Henderson Resource Group, Turf (acoustics), Bernhardt, Momentum Textiles, Punt, Haworth, Ethnicraft, Miller/Knoll, Group Lacasse, Gabriel, Garrett Leather, and Stark Carpets. These interactions fostered valuable connections with established and emerging brands, promising exciting collaborations and innovative solutions for Figure3’s clients.

Each year NeoCon highlights the importance of innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity, setting the stage for the future of design solutions.
