On Thursday, January 18th, a sold out crowd gathered on the opening day of the 2024 Interior Design Show to watch as Figure3 Principals Eric Yorath and Suzanne Wilkinson, as well as Arlene Dedier, Principal & Executive Vice President, Canadian Practice Leader, Project Management Services at Avison Young, Katya Shabanova, Senior Vice President, Office Leasing at Cushman & Wakefield, and Nathan Naka, Partner, Director of Project Management at mform Construction Group, shared their unique insight for ‘A Balanced Perspective for Choosing a New Workplace’.

This panel discussion comes at an optimal time, as the workplace landscape continues to evolve, many businesses are considering a reno in place or office relocation to better accommodate changing employee needs and behaviours. The panel offered perspective and advice from the worlds of real estate brokerage, project management, interior design, and construction, discussing some of the key considerations for each strategy. The group explored the fascinating complexities a company faces when considering the location of their physical office environment and whether to renovate or relocate.

The big takeaway of the discussion was clear, engage your team of experts early in the consideration process. Each company has unique needs and every scenario has pros and cons; it is the collective insight and experience of the Project Manager, Broker, General Contractor and Interior Designer, that’s needed to make a balanced and informed choice.
