Director, Business Development, Workplace

Figure3 is one of Canada’s most distinguished Interior Design firms. Leveraging design-based research and brand strategy, we partner with business leaders to realize environments which achieve the best connection between people and place. As a member of the Figure3 Management Team, you will work with colleagues and Principals to build, establish and execute workplace specific business development strategies, securing new client relationships and building on existing ones. Reporting to a Principal, you will contribute your expertise to drive the overall success of the Figure3 brand.


  • As a Figure3 ambassador, foster strong, positive relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Continuously build productive relationships within the commercial/corporate real estate industry
  • Assist in building annual business development strategies specific to the workplace sector
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop and implement strategies to elevate Figure3’s brand
  • Achieve annual sales targets
  • Build and maintain a database of current and prospective client and industry contacts
  • Organize, track, document and report the status of opportunities in the pipeline
  • Prepare proposals and lead pitches; work with Principals to develop fee proposals for new business
  • Identify cross-sector opportunities in retail, hospitality; collaborate with colleagues to pursue
  • Help to coach staff to enhance their business development skill set
  • Ensure compliance with Figure3 policies and procedures
  • Upon the award of new projects, participate in project kick-off meetings to ensure the project team have a clear understanding of the project commitment and client relationship
  • Coordinate with marketing to identify publishing opportunities and selections for award submissions


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in business development in the interior design or related industry
  • Up-to-date understanding of trends in workplace interior design and influencing factors
  • A strong network in the corporate real estate industry including brokers and project managers
  • Demonstrated ability to build on existing client base, and prospect for net new clients
  • Familiarity with CRM software, ideally Salesforce
  • Compelling communicator with strong business acumen; approachable, intuitive, resourceful
  • Persuasive presentation skills
